Complete Communities Foundation for a Prosperous Houston

Complete Communities is Mayor Sylvester Turner's plan to revitalize Houston's most under-resourced neighborhoods. The mission of Complete Communities is to create a more equitable and prosperous city for all Houstonians by working with local stakeholders and cross-sector partners to improve designated neighborhoods. Supported by partnerships with banks, endowments and other private entities, the initiative is focused on creating a healthier Houston. The communities featured in the plan include Acres Homes, Alief-Westwood, Fort Bend Houston, Gulfton, Kashmere Gardens, Magnolia Park-Manchester, Near Northside, Sunnyside and the Second and Third Ward.

All 10 communities selected to be part of the program have created action plans that support and reinforce citywide goals. The plans were developed through a civic engagement process including public community meetings, small group meetings and surveys. These goals include: ensuring access to affordable housing; a thriving, resilient, and diverse economy; nurturing safe and healthy neighborhoods; a respect for history; engaged and informed residents; and, sustaining quality infrastructure.
